Florence & Cinque Terre Photography Workshop 2026: This workshop is about your growth and your images. Many photo tours emphasize being at the right location at the right time — but then the instructors often focus on taking their own shots. Our philosophy is different. We’re there to guide you personally. Photo: Terje Svendsen.
From the Renaissance streets of Florence to the dramatic cliffside villages of Cinque Terre, this workshop blends architectural beauty, lively street life, and sweeping coastal landscapes. You’ll photograph iconic landmarks at sunrise, wander local markets and artisan quarters with your camera, and capture postcard-worthy scenes along the Ligurian Sea. We’ll balance sunrise and sunset shoots with hands-on street photography walks, ensuring you return home with a rich and varied portfolio. With personal coaching and feedback throughout the week — plus two online follow-up sessions — you’ll deepen your technical skills, strengthen your visual storytelling, and develop greater creative confidence.
In Florence, you will work at the intersection of architecture, history, and everyday life. Early mornings and evenings are dedicated to iconic locations such as the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, and the Arno, photographed in soft dawn light, golden hour, and blue hour. Between these sessions, the focus shifts to street photography in artisan quarters, markets, and quieter neighborhoods, where observation, timing, and awareness are central. You will learn how to move through the city with purpose—recognizing visual structure, anticipating moments, and creating images that go beyond the postcard view.
As the workshop transitions to the Ligurian coast, the emphasis expands to include coastal landscapes and seascapes. In Cinque Terre, colorful villages rise directly from the sea, offering complex compositions of cliffs, water, architecture, and human presence. Sunrise sessions focus on fishing harbors and calm morning light, while evenings are spent photographing cliffside villages glowing at sunset. You will also explore longer exposures to enhance water movement, reflections, and atmosphere, particularly during blue hour and changing weather conditions.
Throughout the week, instruction is practical, direct, and highly personal. Rather than lecturing from the sidelines, the instructors work closely with you while you photograph—fine-tuning composition, helping you make confident technical decisions in difficult light, and encouraging a clear visual strategy before you press the shutter. The aim is not only to produce strong individual images, but to help you build a cohesive body of work that reflects your own way of seeing.
The workshop is intentionally small, allowing for one-to-one guidance every day. This creates space for meaningful feedback, thoughtful discussion, and steady progression—from the first sessions to the final image reviews. You will also take part in a dedicated showcase and critique session, where your work is reviewed in depth with an emphasis on portfolio development and long-term growth.
Equally important is the shared experience. This is a workshop built around community as much as photography: early mornings, long walks with cameras, focused shooting sessions, and relaxed meals together. The combination of structured learning and informal conversation creates an environment where ideas are exchanged freely and inspiration is constant.
Florence & Cinque Terre Photography Workshop: This workshop is an immersive photographic journey through two of Italy’s most visually compelling regions: the Renaissance city of Florence and the dramatic coastal villages of Cinque Terre. Designed for photographers who want to work with intention rather than chance, the workshop focuses on seeing clearly, composing deliberately, and responding confidently to light, place, and unfolding moments. By the end of the workshop, you will leave with more than a collection of strong photographs. You will return home with a clearer visual language, greater confidence in your decisions, and practical tools you can apply to your photography long after the workshop ends—whether you are working in historic cities, along coastlines, or in your own familiar surroundings.
This is a workshop for photographers who want depth, guidance, and lasting development—set against the extraordinary visual richness of Florence and Cinque Terre.
Instructors and workshop leaders: Terje Svendsen and Bjørn Joachimsen.
